The Weekly Wrap: Saturday, February 11, 2006

11 February 2006

‘Twas a boring week and the Dow led the pack with a +1.2% gain. Personally I’m bearish until I see the downtrend line of lower highs broken on the S&P 500 to the upside. Apple (AAPL), a personal favorite (not currently holding) continues it slide down, but I will be a buyer when it perks […]

4 February 2006

No gains this week. Will probably get a bounce soon but I expect this decline to continue.

The Weekly Wrap: Saturday, January 29, 2006

28 January 2006

Earnings are on a roll. To date almost 50% of S&P 500 companies have reported. The markets regained most of the previous weeks losses. However I am not convinced that this rally has legs. Many of the previous quarters leaders have fallen behind, but in earnings reports I do see many semiconductor stocks with stellar […]

21 January 2006

There were a few problems in paradise this week. Two things got the market reversing this week, Oil and Earnings. Oil prices shot up this week to close at $68.48 a barrel after implied threats from Iran that oil supplies would be disrupted if anyone tried to interfere with its nuclear plans. With earnings it […]

The Weekly Wrap: Saturday, January 14, 2006

14 January 2006

Well, earnings get rolling this week right after the holiday. One I’m looking forward to is AAPL - Apple Computer, Inc. which will report on Wednesday, January 18, 2006. Overall this was a consolidation week and I hope next week we find the markets trending higher.

The Weekly Wrap: Saturday, January 7, 2006

7 January 2006

The Fed’s December FOMC minutes were released Tuesday afternoon and implied that several more rate hikes are not guaranteed and that rate hikes may stop sooner rather than later. The S&P 500 shot ahead 20 points that afternoon and was actually up every day this week. Evidently the Market players liked what they heard. Earnings […]

31 December 2005

Happy New Year! The year 2005 comes to an end at 12:00 AM tonight (relative to where you are) and puts an end to this sad Market performance. I welcome the new year and the chance for making some large gains. Although I did well this past year (+40%) I can remember each wrong decision […]

27 December 2005

HO, HO, HO! Merry Christmas one and all! Hope you all were good. Well we had another boring week and no Santa rally in sight, but we have one week left in this year. So lets all cross our fingers and hope for at least a moderate rise this coming week.

The Weekly Wrap: Saturday, December 17, 2005

17 December 2005

It was a mixed week for the indices, two up and two down. This past week the FED raised the fed funds target rate another 1/4 point to 4.1/4%. The FED did indicate they would raise again but hinted that the current round of rate hikes may soon come to an end. Oil was lower […]

The Weekly Wrap: Saturday, December 10, 2005

10 December 2005

It was another boring week of consolidation for the indices. I’m expecting / hoping for another run higher before 2005 ends. Next weeks Fed policy statement Tuesday afternoon will probably drive the weeks performance with the market biding its time until it is over. This week the DOW is the leading loser with a 0.90% […]
