Visa IPO Date
15 March 2008The V - Visa, Inc. IPO date is slated for 03/20/08 - 03/21/08 vicinity. That is next Thursday, March 20 or Friday, March 21, 2008. Remember, these are tentative dates and you just have to keep checking until you get the hard date. Now, anyone can get a piece of the Visa IPO pie as soon as it opens. I will definitely post anything I hear on the IPO. What I do know is this IPO is already oversubscribed and I expect it to open way over it’s pricing number. I have no idea yet of what $ number not to pay higher than, but I expect Jim Cramer on Mad Money and others will have their thoughts early next week.
I suspect that like all IPO’s this one could also get canceled (but I doubt it) if the market went to pieces next week. You know next week is also options expiration week and generally these are pretty benign weeks, but not always. With the volatility indices spiking Friday, I think we may find a bottom at or about this coming option expiration Friday or following Monday (3/21/08 or 3/24/08). As always , you (and I) won’t know for sure until we are aways into the next rally.
Like I said in an earlier post I woud look at the MA - Mastercard, Inc. IPO to see how the Visa IPO may go. However, with the credit markets the way they are, who knows how the Visa IPO will fair. Long term it will almost certainly do well over what it prices at. Just don’t pay to much, here and now at open market prices.
Also, next week on Tuesday, March 18 the FED meets with their announcement coming at about 11:15 PDT. Their announcement will be the focus next week for sure.
UPDATE: I have now seen on another website that the IPO date is Wednesday, March 19, 2008. Their sentence ended with a ? though, so I guess that means they are not sure either.
UPDATE II: I have now seen on still another website that the IPO date is now Tuesday, March 18, 2008. They are probably hoping for a FED led rally party after the FOMC cuts rates again on that day.
